This is my first review so bare with me!
I'm just got off the Voyager last week and it was a great cruise! Embarkation went very smooth! My family and i arrived to the port at about 11:20 and headed right for security where there was no line and we zipped right through that! Then we headed to the cheek in desk where there was also no line! Once we got all cheeked-in my family and i headed over to the Diamond and Diamond plus boarding area. When we arrived there they were just starting boarding and we jumped into the line. Before i left i noticed they had some juice and cookies available on a table. It was about 12:45 when i walked up the gangway and boarded they ship. I immediately walked around the ship and took a few pictures. This is my favorite time to take pictures because no one is aboard the ship yet and you can get some great shots! It was about 1:10 and i went to deck 8 to go see my cabin. When i arrived to deck 8 there was about 10 people just sitting around. I was very surprised to see them and they said the cabins weren't ready yet so i headed up to the Windjammer and had some lunch with my family! The Windjammer was not packed but it was not empty either. The service at the Windjammer was excellent like it always is the first day! I was there for about 15 minutes and then i headed back to my cabin where again i saw a now a larger group of people just sitting around! I asked what was up and again they said the cabins weren't ready yet! It was now about 1:40 so i decided i would wait. Immediately when i sat down the door opened and a guy came out and said the "your cabins are now ready". I do believe most of the other cabins were ready around 1:00. I'm still not sure why we had such a delay! My cabin was 8322 and it was a hump! The cabin was clean when i arrived and i was very impressed with the size and location of my cabin! The new bedding aboard Royal Caribbean ships is wonderful it definitely was a a big plus! The rest off the day went very smooth and so did the rest off the cruise some things i would like to point out are........ - the ship was updated since my last cruise aboard her in 2006 and i was very impressed with the upkeep she was looking very new!!
- the gift shop did not have any pins and also they did not have any postcard booklets (they said they were trying to get rid of everything because they were leaving for the Mediterranean in about a month)
- the CD was Eric Dowis
- there was lobster and it was called the Fisherman's Plate this is what it says straight from the menu "Fisherman's Plate A broiled lobster tail and garlicky shrimp served with broccoli florets"
- the also was no midnight gala buffet there was only a smaller pool-side buffet one night
SHOWS-The productions shows Music in Motion and Rhythm and Rhyme aboard were OK nothing were i left and said boy i want to see that again! If i had to choice Music in Motion was a tad bit better! The ice show "Ice odyssey" was great! I was very impressed with the show and the crowds the show drew were enormous! Make sure you have a ticket! The Quest was great like always but i think they need some new questions because they were the same question as on my last cruise! The love and marriage game show was funny like usual but again the questions need to be changed!
FOOD- The main dinning room food was good! It definitely was not amazing or great though! In the Windjammer the food was the same old same old but i did enjoy the food in the Windjammer and so did my family! My sister really enjoyed the Sushi they offered every night. My family and i ate in Portofino 5 out of the 7 nights and we really enjoyed it. The service was very good and the food was excellent!
BINGO- There was a new bingo theme this cruise and there were new shirts. There was no more bingo dogs he had been replaced by a seal! The new shirts and signs say "Royal Bingo Just Follow The Bouncing Balls" with a seal. I'm not sure what they meant by follow they bouncing balls because i never saw any!
DISEMBARKATION- IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! The port of Galveston is in need of a little face lift! Well on the Royal Caribbean side that is! The Carnival terminal was beautiful and was brand new! The Royal Caribbean terminal was a warehouse! When we disembarked the ship at around 9:00 there was about 40 people in line to get their luggage. When you found your luggage that was just laying out in piles you'd have to go wait in a 200 person line to go through customs! I should change that last sentence there was no line! It was a total mess! People were yelling and screaming and literately fights were ready to break out! The staff kinda got the situation under control and a "line" was formed. I looked backed and the line was all the way back to the ship now and they couldn't let any one off! It was a total mess! While i was waiting in line i was talking with some people and they said it never gets this bad and stuff and i believe them the only reason it was a mess is because there was over 400 foreigners aboard and they had not filled out any paper work! All in all i would sail out of Galveston again i just think they need some "upgrades"!
If you have any questions just post them!
